Make me up

In all honesty, up until yesterday I never wore very much makeup. I never wore foundation (save for dance concerts), most often couldnt be screwed with eyeliner, wore a bit of mascara, did a smokey eye for going out but for everyday, tinted moisturiser was the way to go. I was for the most part pretty happy with this, the less makeup you wear the less you have to worry about it clogging your pores and blah blah blah.

Yesterday however I spent probably about $200 on makeup. Inspired by this photo of myself out clubbing, I decided the no makeup face just wasn't good enough for special occasions and when photos would be likely. So I figured, if I'm going to do makeup, I'm going to do it properly. Quality brushes, quality makeup. My buys are as follows :

Napolean Perdis The 'Great Escapes' brush set in Teal
This was $99 as a christmas set, containing a face brush, foundation brush, shadow brush, crease brush, smudge liner brush, angled liner brush, mascara brush & sponge applicator. I was lucky, and on christmas sales got it half price at $40.50 . Considering buying one face brush can often cost $50-60 dollars or so, I'm pretty amazed by that saving. I think its almost half price on the website, too.
Napoleon Perdis NP Set 'Prime Time' set.
I was originally going to buy the Napoleon Auto Pilot primer, as I've heard good reviews on it, but the saleslady said that if I had more dryness-inclined skin rather than combination, the above one should work nicely. This set was also half priced, and came to about $35-40? With both the pre-foundation primer & pre-foundation bronzing powder, which I am yet to use.

Napoleon Perdis 'Mighty Concealer'
I'm attracted to  its sleek packaging and the way a little goes a long way in covering. $35.00

Napoleon Perdis 'Light Diffusing Makeup Foundation'
$59, but every girl needs a good foundation.

I also bought two powders, a Natio translucent, and a Covergirl one labelled 'translucent medium'. I havent tried out the translucent one, but the translucent medium is good to put over my normal foundation when I currently have a fake tan, or in summer when my face will get slightly darker. That way I don't have to buy a whole new shade of foundation for when I have a tan.

By the way, if anyone is looking for a good powder or how to apply powder so that you dont get a chalky/powdery look, I found some helpful suggestions & tips here
(It looks like my natio translucent is mentioned in the comments - on girl saying its horrible, one saying she loves it. Suspense!!!)

So far, I'm loving all the makeup I purchased, and I've been told it all looks very natural--pics coming soon for sure!
But, until pics, here are some photos of makeup looks i've been itching to emulate :

Looks like i need to get my eyebrows done....& i love the last picture just because this girl hasnt covered her freckles...i think they're heaps pretty.

Over & out. xx

Aw, I love that she kept her freckles showing too. :)

PS. Thanks for the comment! It made me so sad that many of my peers didn't even bother to read The Great Gatsby. I mean, come on people! Give it a chance. It was rather annoying when they would boast about not reading it and still being able to take the test.

i have to be real, this whole post went over my head a bit as i am makeup-ignorant. perhaps i will have a revelation one day and get it together, cosmetics-wise, but until then, i'm content to look at pretty pictures.
