Moving on!
More lipstick! I went back the day after I bought Chichi's VivaLaDiva 'Status' lipstick (a few posts ago)-an amazing orange-red colour-hoping to buy more at their still half-price $9.50. However instead of the range of interesting colours i expected to find, they all seemed to be very similar colours, and the stand was almost cleaned out meaning many weren't available - & I ended up going home with Yummy Mummy, a pretty just-pink, nudeish shade that I was lucky enough to find wedged behind the lipglosses.
A few days after that, I found myself back in Target craving a pure red shade. When I went back before, I'd gotten that 'red lip' fix and felt bored by the other reds....but when I went back again it was to hunt out the vibrant 'Exhibitionist' colour - the perfect pure vibrant red. While I was there, I found myself attracted to Corporate Femme's slightly darker hue- reminding me of the shades commonly used in old vampiric movies, and in femme fatales of the 90's. So I picked that one up too.
and this lipgloss, and this lip primer kit. they were both half price (lipgloss about $8.50, primer $9.50). The lipgloss is such a pretty colour in the tube, brighter and more transparent than in this photo...but that translates to a pinkish sheen on lips. It smells amazing, like candy (& doesnt taste too bad either...don't judge me).
This is the case for the primer - this is the point where I start to dislike Chichi's packaging design. The design is okay in the cardboard box for it, pulling on a bit of a retro vibe, but... dotting your eyes with lips? Really? I did that shit when I was 13/14. & while I admit I still occasionally 'dot' them with an 'x', I just cant see this as a good idea for makeup packaging. Combined with the hot pink & the 'You are beautiful' in a font I swear I was obsessed with when I saw it in Totalgirl magazine (again, 12, 13 or 14 at this stage) it comes off as a casing for play-makeup for young girls.
The inside of the packaging is okay...I like that it has a mirror (which is currently smudged over with primer in what appears to be a jarring incident before I had even opened it...grrr). It has a brush to apply the primer (I personally find this brush a bit useless, it doesnt seem to suit the shape of lips & as the primer itself appears a bit grainy, I think it needs to be softened by applying it with a finger), and a 'neutral' coloured lipliner (which appears to work well enough, and is definetly very handy). I'm not sure how useful the primer actually is, but it does smell amazing.
mmmmm...soo....perdyyyy
i DO have photos of exhibitionist on, but my sister''s camera is dead & I'm way too lazy to charge the battery right at this moment.
now onto the 'Life Tips'.
A post by Gala Darling prompted me to think about my 'morning routine' (which, to be honest, currently consists of dragging myself out of bed, forgetting breakfast & going out/lazing around) and add some things in to help me be more productive, energetic & healthy this year.
View Gala Darling's post here , because its full of good ideas if you need some help making the most out of your days.
The little steps I'm taking to change my morning routine:
- get up earlierrr - this is going to be so difficult given I've just turned 18 & can go clubbing.
- take cool showers -sounds like a bizarre form of self-torture, but the benefits are pretty numerous -softer, less dried out skin, less likelihood of flaring up eczema, closes pores & leaves hair silkier...sounds like total bullshit but you can google that shit, & I actually tried it this morning and found that when I got out of the shower, I felt good, refreshed, I didnt even need to put on moisturiser and my hair went from extremely beach tangled when i went in, to nice and smooth and easy to brush out. Even if you start with a warm shower, and gradually lower the heat so its cool, the benefits will still be there to some extent.
- drink water with fresh lemon juice -immunity boosting, good for your skin....google that shit too.
- dry body brushing- this one made me laugh when I saw it on the gala darling post, but I'll give it a go.
do you do or know anyone who does any of those things? What do you do in the morning to prep yourself for your day?
